It's Cold Outside N the is Dry!

It's winter again and almost everyone's hair dries out...myself included. Sometimes I get annoyed and leave it to suffer which is really not such a good idea. However, on my good days these are some of the products that I use to reduce the dryness or I just plait them and leave them for two or three weeks. These are some ways ladies solve their problems in the winter

  • Wearing weaves or wigs- these are protective hairstyles that cover your hair preventing it from drying out and also leaves you looking presentable. It is also a way to give your hair some rest and time to grow Mind you please if you choose this way brush or comb through it sometimes because some people fail to realize that these hairstyles also needs maintenance too.
  • Braids- it could be your normal hair or hair that you buy from the store. It is a great way to grow out our hair while protecting it. It doesn't work for everyone but it is also one of the safest way to go.
Then there are the hair products for added shine:
Great way to add shine especially to weaved or braided hair in the winter, just apply to dry areas or you can do the entire head and your good to go.

Cantu products shea butter hair dressing pomade.....can't go wrong there. It's great for when your braiding your hair or just a touch up to your roots of your braided hair. Lastly it smells awesome too!!!

Getting Those Curls

So for the past few months I have been on a mission to find products that shows the curl in my hair and these are some of the products I have tried

The Dark and Lovely Au- Naturale Curl defining Creme Glaze not only smells good it works too. After washing hair I apply a good amount to my entire hair mind you half the container is done in one application because of my length and thickness. Do not blow dry hair leave it to air dry. Once air dried hair gets oily and curls are formed.

While I just started to transition this what what I applied to my hair before putting them into cornrows. It added shine and waves o my hair.

This not only smells good it defines the curls

Tips on how to grow your hair

Hello again
This is always a touchy topic for any female who is trying to grow her hair but just can't seen to get it done.

As I am still transitioning these are the steps that are currently working for me:

  • No blow-driers -yep I air fry my hair always even now in the winter (brrrrr) I still leave it to mother nature to take care of.
  • No flat-irons or curling irons- once again trying to prevent the heat as it burns hairs and leaves it smelling and looking damaged
  • For those of you with the afro, I do not comb my hair for 2-4 days. Don't take this the wrong way, I only mean that I wear an afro without placing a comb into it just to allow my hair growth without interruptions.
  • Jamaican Black Castor Oil- yep yep, this helps hair to be shiny and thick
  • Just braid your hair and leave it for a week or more. Have you ever noticed that's how people grow dreadlocks, the hair is twisted and then left for a while to grow then the new growth is twisted and the process goes on. Well how about just braiding your hair and once it's fresh for another week or so rock that hairstyle.....it gives your hair time to grow.

Shampoos, conditioners...... Which works?

All of my hairstyles whether natural, relaxed or texturized have always had a coarse texture so not all shampoos work for me. Some shampoos left my hair feeling rough and hard which made the comb break. But below are some shampoos and conditioners that have worked for me and I would recommend:

Motions for kids shampoo for Relaxed hair

Motions for Kids conditioner left my relaxed hair feeling soft after shampooing

For Natural hair/ Texturized hair:

The Just For Me Kids hair milk shampoo
The Just For Me Kids hair milk cleanser
The Just For Me Kids milk Conditioner

The Just For ME Kids Hair milk line is what I currently use on my hair and it leaves my hair feeling soft and leaves my curls bouncing.

My Journey from Relaxers

Hi everyone!!!

I had relaxed hair for 8 long years. Yep yep. It started off from being the thick long straight hair that every girl in your class envied to the damaged colored thin hair that you just want to hide. In 2012 August was the last time I placed a relaxer in my hair. I was a girl who once loved to have long hair but earlier in 2012 around May or June I got tired of carrying around damage hair and had my hair chopped to shoulder length. By August my hair was past my shoulders again but it was at the end of August that I decided it was time to see my natural hair again.

My inspiration all came from Curli Nikki's website http://www.curlynikki.com/. I would browse the website on a daily basis and just wish I could have the big afro back again. So I grew my hair for seven months without using horse hair. I know it's hard to understand but like I said my hair has a tendency of growing quickly.
Some of these transitional styles were:

  • Bantu knots
  • Single plaits that lasted two or more weeks
  • Buns
  • Cornrows
On March of 2013 I did the big chop. Boy was that a bold move. It was the shortest my hair had ever been.
****DUN DUN DUN******
Yeah the big dramatic beat, I texturized my hair that same day. I don't know why I thought it would still be considered natural but obviously I know now. However I did it the smart way, as soon as I applied the texturizer, I washed it out so I could only have the curly effect and keep the natural look going. I did this texturizing technique again in June and then November. November was my final time yep I'm ready to go ahead. So hopefully by the end of this year (2014) I would have my hair grown out to a really long length so I can have a long length when I get rid of my textured ends.

Hope you enjoy my blog!!!
Stay tuned.........
