My Journey from Relaxers

Hi everyone!!!

I had relaxed hair for 8 long years. Yep yep. It started off from being the thick long straight hair that every girl in your class envied to the damaged colored thin hair that you just want to hide. In 2012 August was the last time I placed a relaxer in my hair. I was a girl who once loved to have long hair but earlier in 2012 around May or June I got tired of carrying around damage hair and had my hair chopped to shoulder length. By August my hair was past my shoulders again but it was at the end of August that I decided it was time to see my natural hair again.

My inspiration all came from Curli Nikki's website http://www.curlynikki.com/. I would browse the website on a daily basis and just wish I could have the big afro back again. So I grew my hair for seven months without using horse hair. I know it's hard to understand but like I said my hair has a tendency of growing quickly.
Some of these transitional styles were:

  • Bantu knots
  • Single plaits that lasted two or more weeks
  • Buns
  • Cornrows
On March of 2013 I did the big chop. Boy was that a bold move. It was the shortest my hair had ever been.
****DUN DUN DUN******
Yeah the big dramatic beat, I texturized my hair that same day. I don't know why I thought it would still be considered natural but obviously I know now. However I did it the smart way, as soon as I applied the texturizer, I washed it out so I could only have the curly effect and keep the natural look going. I did this texturizing technique again in June and then November. November was my final time yep I'm ready to go ahead. So hopefully by the end of this year (2014) I would have my hair grown out to a really long length so I can have a long length when I get rid of my textured ends.

Hope you enjoy my blog!!!
Stay tuned.........
